Terms and Conditions
The terms for using FLT Academy's training, certificate and jobs services.
Last updated: 1 September 2026
These terms apply to services supplied by FLT Academy Ltd (“FLT Academy”, “we”, “us” or “our”). FLT Academy Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 17332251. Our registered office is 10A Home Road, Bedford, MK43 9BL. Contact us at info@fltacademy.co.uk or 07379 260161.
1. Using this website
By using the website or creating an account, you agree to these terms. Extra written terms shown with a particular course, quotation or service also apply. If those extra terms conflict with this page, the more specific written terms apply to that service.
You must use the website lawfully, provide accurate information, protect your sign-in details and tell us promptly if you believe an account has been misused. You must not attempt to bypass security, scrape private information, interfere with the service, impersonate another person or upload malicious, unlawful or infringing material.
Authenticator-app two-factor security is available for additional account protection and may be required for administrator access. You are responsible for keeping your authenticator setup and one-use recovery codes private. FLT Academy will never ask you to send a recovery code by email or secure message.
2. Training information and suitability
Course descriptions, durations and availability are guides until we confirm a booking. Novice training normally takes 3–5 days depending on experience and assessed needs; conversion and refresher training are normally one day. We may recommend a different course level or duration where this is reasonably necessary for safe and effective training.
Candidates must provide accurate details about experience and any matter that may affect safe participation. Training does not remove an employer's responsibility to provide suitable authorisation, familiarisation, supervision, equipment, site-specific instruction and risk controls.
3. Training bookings and payment
Available sessions, the total course price and the amount due at checkout are shown before payment. Prices are in pounds sterling. FLT Academy is not currently VAT registered, so VAT is not added unless the booking page expressly says otherwise.
A selected place is normally held for 45 minutes while payment is completed. A payment acknowledgement confirms receipt only. A binding training contract is formed when we send written booking confirmation after checking the course, candidate information, availability and payment.
If a deposit is taken, the booking confirmation will state the remaining balance and when it must be paid. A candidate may not be allowed to start or complete training while an agreed payment remains overdue.
4. Consumer cancellation rights for training
If you book as an individual consumer online, by telephone or by email, you will normally have 14 days from the day the contract is formed to cancel without giving a reason. To cancel, email info@fltacademy.co.uk with your name, course and course date. You may use the cancellation form at the end of these terms, but you do not have to.
If you ask us to begin providing the service during the 14-day cancellation period and later cancel within that period, we may deduct a reasonable proportion for services already supplied. If the service has been fully performed within that period after your express request and acknowledgement, the statutory cancellation right ends when performance is complete.
These cancellation rights may differ where a business or employer makes the booking, or where a legal exception applies. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
5. Our training cancellation policy
In addition to any statutory right:
- if we receive cancellation at least 14 clear days before the course starts, you may request a full refund or one transfer to another available date;
- if we receive cancellation 7–13 clear days before the course starts, we will offer a transfer where reasonably possible or refund the amount paid less reasonable, evidenced losses caused by the cancellation, capped at 50% of the course price; and
- if we receive cancellation fewer than 7 clear days before the start, or the candidate does not attend, we may deduct our reasonable losses up to the course price. We will take reasonable steps to reduce those losses, including offering the place to another candidate where practical.
A substitute candidate may be accepted if you contact us before the course and the substitute is suitable for the same course. Business bookings may use cancellation terms stated in the accepted quotation.
6. Changes or cancellation by FLT Academy
We may make reasonable changes to a trainer, timetable, equipment or location without changing the essential service. We may postpone or cancel training because of trainer illness, unsafe conditions, equipment failure, insufficient attendance or circumstances beyond reasonable control.
If we cancel and cannot offer a suitable alternative, we will refund the amount paid for the affected training. We are not responsible for avoidable or indirect travel, accommodation or loss-of-earnings costs, so refundable arrangements are recommended. This does not affect any legal remedy available where we fail to use reasonable care and skill.
7. Candidate conduct, assessment and certification
Candidates must follow reasonable safety instructions and must not attend under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or any substance that makes safe participation impossible. We may pause or end training where conduct creates a safety risk or serious disruption.
Payment and attendance do not guarantee a pass. Certification depends on meeting the applicable training and assessment standard. If further training or reassessment is recommended, any price will be agreed separately before it is provided.
8. Candidate accounts and job applications
Candidate accounts are for the account holder's own genuine details and records. Approval is not automatic and may require matching against FLT Academy's training or certificate information.
When a candidate applies for a vacancy, the candidate instructs us to send the reviewed application and selected CV to the recruitment agency or direct employer that posted it. FLT Academy does not guarantee an interview, job offer, pay, hours, working conditions or the accuracy of a business advertiser's vacancy. Candidates should make their own checks before accepting work or disclosing further information.
The CV builder formats information supplied by the candidate and training records held by FLT Academy. Candidates are responsible for keeping employment and qualification details accurate and current. A “FLT Academy verified” label means we reviewed the evidence available to us; it is not a guarantee of ongoing competence, employment suitability or acceptance by an employer. Home addresses and dates of birth are not placed on generated CVs. Photo and age display are optional candidate choices.
Candidate Match is optional. A candidate can turn it off or decline an introduction. A recruitment agency or direct employer must not access or use candidate information for unrelated marketing, data resale or any purpose other than genuine recruitment.
Secure messaging becomes available only after a candidate submits a job application or accepts an introduction from an approved business. Messages must be genuine, professional and connected with recruitment. Users must not send spam, harassment, discriminatory or unlawful content, passwords, payment-card details, unnecessary identity documents or malicious links. Either participant may block or report a conversation. We may review a reported conversation and pause, restore or close it to protect users and the service.
9. Business accounts and job adverts
Business services are available only to genuine recruitment agencies and direct employers advertising lawful vacancies they are authorised to represent. We may verify the business and approve, reject, suspend or close an account to protect candidates and the service.
Each approved business account receives three free adverts in total. Each approved advert normally remains live for 30 days. After the free allowance, an additional 30-day advert costs £29 unless a different price is clearly displayed before payment.
The optional Business Partner subscription currently costs £39 per month and renews automatically until cancelled. It includes Candidate Search, shortlists, saved-search alerts, up to three staff seats, five featured adverts and an allowance of up to 50 adverts in each billing month. Unused allowances do not roll over and all adverts still require approval and normally remain live for 30 days. The current price, renewal interval and included features are shown again before payment. The business can manage or cancel the subscription through the secure billing portal; cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid billing period.
All adverts are reviewed before publication. Adverts must be accurate, current, non-discriminatory, lawful and clear about the role, location, pay basis and business advertiser. They must not charge candidates, request unnecessary sensitive information, promote unsafe practices, misrepresent certification or contain third-party material without permission.
We may request edits, reject or remove an advert that breaches these terms, creates a legal or safety risk, receives a credible complaint or is no longer current. If a paid advert is rejected before publication solely because we cannot accept it, we will refund the advert charge. Once a compliant advert has gone live, the charge is not refundable merely because it receives few or no applications. This does not affect remedies where our service is not provided with reasonable care and skill.
10. Our role on the jobs board
FLT Academy provides a specialist advertising and application-transmission platform. Unless we expressly say otherwise for a particular vacancy, we are not the employer, employment agency or employment business, and we do not make hiring decisions. The business advertising the role is responsible for the vacancy, candidate communications, recruitment checks and compliance with employment and recruitment law.
11. Certificate records, training cards, verification and replacement copies
Certificate and training-card access and verification apply only to records held and approved by FLT Academy. Verification confirms the limited record shown at the time of the check; it is not an ongoing guarantee of an operator's competence, health, authorisation or suitability for a particular workplace. The Certificate of Training Photo ID Card is a portable record of approved training. Employers remain responsible for workplace-specific checks, familiarisation and authorisation.
Replacement certificate copies currently cost £15 for a digital PDF or £20 for a printed copy with digital access. An optional printed PVC training card is £20 plus £5 delivery. Prices may change, but the full amount will always be shown before checkout. Printed orders use the delivery address entered at checkout. We aim to dispatch within the period stated with the order and, unless otherwise agreed, within 30 days.
For a digital copy supplied immediately, a consumer who expressly requests immediate delivery and acknowledges the effect on cancellation rights will lose the statutory right to cancel once the digital copy has been supplied. This does not affect rights where a copy is faulty, inaccessible or not as described. Contact us promptly about an incorrect file, damage or non-delivery so we can replace it or provide the remedy required by law.
12. Payments
Online card payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's own terms and privacy information. We do not store full card details. A service is treated as paid only after our system receives reliable payment confirmation. We may cancel or investigate an order affected by fraud, reversal, chargeback or a clear pricing error.
13. Website learning and safety material
Practice questions, theory material, checklists and safety videos are supplementary learning aids. They do not replace practical training, formal assessment, the manufacturer's operator handbook, site rules or a suitable risk assessment. Always follow the truck manufacturer's instructions and the controls applying at the workplace.
14. Cody AI assistant
Cody is an optional artificial-intelligence website assistant intended to explain FLT Academy services and help users navigate the website and account areas. Cody may misunderstand a question or produce an incomplete or inaccurate answer. Its replies are general information only and are not practical lift-truck instruction, formal training, assessment, legal or medical advice, a confirmed booking, a job offer or a guarantee.
Do not give Cody passwords, payment-card or bank details, National Insurance numbers, identity documents, full home addresses or other unnecessary sensitive information. Cody does not have unrestricted access to private account, certificate, payment or secure-message records. Check important information against the relevant website page or written confirmation from FLT Academy, and contact us where a decision affects safety, money, employment, training or certification.
Visitors may rate an answer as helpful or needing work. FLT Academy may use a locally redacted version of the question, limited page and audience context and token totals to monitor cost and improve Cody's approved information. These improvement records are not intended to identify the visitor and are deleted after the period stated in our Privacy Policy.
15. Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the website, FLT Academy branding, original text, graphics, course material and downloadable resources belong to FLT Academy or are used with permission. You may view and use candidate material for personal study connected with FLT Academy training. You may not sell, republish, remove notices from, systematically copy or commercially exploit it without written permission.
Business users keep ownership of their vacancy text and authorised images, but grant us a non-exclusive licence to store, review, format, publish and promote that advert for the service. The business confirms it has the rights needed to provide that material.
16. Availability and third-party services
We work to keep the website secure and available but cannot promise uninterrupted access. Maintenance, internet failures or third-party services may cause temporary disruption. Links to external sites are provided for convenience; their operators control their own content and terms.
17. Liability and legal rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of rights that cannot be excluded, or any other liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
Consumers are entitled to services performed with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms reduces those rights. Advice on consumer rights is available from Citizens Advice.
For business customers only, and to the fullest extent allowed by law, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, anticipated saving or business opportunity. Our total liability relating to a paid business advert will not exceed the amount paid for that advert, except for liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
18. Account suspension and closure
You may ask us to close your account, subject to records we must keep. We may restrict, suspend or close an account for serious or repeated breach, fraud, unlawful activity, safety risk, non-payment or risk to another user. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide a reasonable opportunity to respond.
19. Privacy and communications
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, and our Cookie Policy explains website storage and analytics choices. Service emails needed for an account, booking, application, certificate or payment are not marketing. Vacancy alerts and News & Rewards announcements are optional, require confirmation and include an unsubscribe link.
20. Referral Programme
Approved candidates and approved recruitment agencies or direct employers may receive a unique FLT Academy referral link. A referral is recorded only for a genuinely new account created through that link. Referral links and rewards are personal to the account holder and must not be sold, transferred, used for self-referral or used to create duplicate, false or misleading accounts.
A referred candidate receives £10 training credit after confirming a valid new account. The referring candidate receives £20 training credit only after the referred candidate pays for and completes eligible FLT Academy training. A business referring another business receives one free 30-day advert when the referred business first buys an individual advert, or £20 business account credit when its first qualifying purchase is a Business Partner subscription. The referred business retains the standard three free adverts available after approval.
Credits have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn or transferred and may be used only against eligible FLT Academy services. A free referral advert remains subject to the normal advert review and publication rules. The dashboard may show a reward as pending while email confirmation, account approval, payment, the refund period or training completion is checked.
Anyone sharing a referral link must make clear that they may receive a reward and must not send unsolicited bulk messages or publish misleading claims about FLT Academy. We may reject, reverse or withhold a reward connected with cancellation, refund, chargeback, fraud, abuse, duplicate accounts or a breach of these terms. We may change or close the programme for future referrals, but will honour valid rewards already earned unless fraud or misuse is identified.
21. News & Rewards and Trusted Partners
News & Rewards provides general Academy updates, safety and training reminders, careers information and occasional offers. Some items are public and some are reserved for signed-in members. Articles do not replace practical training, a manufacturer's instructions, workplace authorisation, professional advice or the specific terms of an offer.
A bonus or partner offer applies only while it is shown as available and remains subject to any eligibility, expiry and third-party terms displayed with it. FLT Academy does not guarantee that an external partner's service will remain available and is not responsible for the content or service of an independently operated external website.
Trusted Partner applications are reviewed before publication. Applicants must provide accurate business information, have authority to represent the business and have permission to supply the submitted description and website link. Approval is discretionary and does not create employment, agency, joint-venture or exclusive endorsement arrangements. We may correct, reject, suspend or remove a listing that is inaccurate, unsafe, unlawful, misleading, inactive or inconsistent with these terms.
Approved users may copy FLT Academy banner code containing their personal referral link onto a website they are authorised to manage. The banner must not be altered to make misleading claims, used in unsolicited bulk messages, placed on unlawful or unsuitable content, or presented as evidence that FLT Academy guarantees the partner. Referral rewards remain subject to section 20.
22. Complaints
Please send complaints to info@fltacademy.co.uk, including your name, relevant booking, order or advert reference and what you would like us to do. We will acknowledge the complaint and aim to provide a substantive response within 14 days. If more time is needed, we will explain why.
23. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms for future use of the service. The version accepted when a paid booking or order is made will govern that transaction unless a change is required by law or agreed with you.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, but a consumer living elsewhere in the UK may also rely on mandatory local rights and bring proceedings in the courts available under applicable consumer law.
