What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores on a browser or device. They can keep a secure session working, remember a choice or help a website understand how its public pages are used.

Essential cookies

These are required for security and requested services, so they do not depend on analytics consent:

• sessionid keeps a signed-in candidate, agency or administrator session secure. It normally expires after the configured session period or when the session is ended;
• csrftoken helps prevent unauthorised form submissions and normally lasts for up to one year;
• short-lived authentication or message cookies may support email confirmation, sign-in and two-factor security controls. Authenticator setup keys and recovery codes are not stored in an analytics cookie; and
• flt_analytics records whether optional first-party analytics was accepted or rejected, so we can respect the choice for up to one year; and
• flt_optional_measurement records whether optional Google Ads measurement was accepted or rejected, so we can respect that choice for up to one year.

Optional first-party analytics

Analytics stays off unless you select “Accept analytics and ads”. When accepted, our own website records limited events such as a public page view, enquiry start, booking start, theory download or job view. It may include the page, general traffic source, device category and a privacy-protected daily session identifier. We do not use this system to put names, CVs, certificate documents, addresses or contact details into analytics records.

Account dashboards, administration and certificate-check pages are excluded. Raw events are retained for up to 90 days and anonymous daily totals for up to two years.

Optional Google Ads measurement

If you select “Accept analytics and ads”, public pages and the business-registration journey can load the Google Ads tag. This helps FLT Academy understand whether Google Ads visits lead to business registrations. The Google tag is not requested when you reject optional measurement. Candidate, agency and administrator dashboards, payment areas and certificate-check pages are excluded.

Essential server activity

Like most secure websites, FLT Academy keeps a short private record of page requests, including visits from search engines and other robots. It may include the page, time, browser or robot name, referring website, a privacy-protected visitor identifier and approximate country or area. This does not place a tracking cookie on your device and is used to operate, understand and protect the website whether optional analytics is accepted or rejected. Exact network addresses are encrypted only until the approximate location is calculated privately on our server, then removed. These records are kept for up to 90 days.

Payment and external services

If you continue to Stripe Checkout, Stripe may use its own cookies on its website for payment, security and fraud prevention. External services linked from our pages control their own cookies and privacy information.

Changing your choice

You can use the “Change optional measurement choice” button on this page at any time. Rejecting optional measurement does not prevent access to training, jobs, certificate checking or account services. You can also delete cookies through your browser settings, although deleting essential cookies may sign you out or interrupt a form.
